Global Neighbourhoods: Don Imus

Now I never listened to his radio or TV programming so I dont really know what kind of a man Don Imus really was when he isn't making racist comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team, but that doesn't matter anymore. Now as the article states, "neither regulation, nor ethical codes have been necessary" to remove Imus from his position in the media world. The only thing that has happened is a mass cry from the public, some using blogs to voice their opinion that the man needed to be fired. I think this really shows the power of interactive media these days. CBS and MSNBC are trying to salvage their image by firing Imus because the general public believes he should be. There might be many negative consequences if they hadn't done so as many consumers would have looked down upon those companies and linked them to racist ideals, which is never good for business. Here's the article that i refer to - Don Imus
