Personalization and Cookies
I went to the store the other day looking for a movie that i thought was out on DVD but i couldn't find it so when i got home i went onto Amazon to see if actually was out on DVD, which it was. Anyways i couldn't help but notice some of the personalization and cookie issues we discussed recently in class. Not only did i find the movie i was looking for, but also Amazon lets you know what other products people bought that also bought the movie i was looking for, and even other products that people eventually bought after only just viewing the movie page. The ability to make these kinds of things available to consumers on the web is very powerful, and i kind of see it as impulse buys on the internet, you didnt go to the site with the intention of purchasing something related to what you bought, but it catches your eye and you buy it too.
